5. I grew up on a hard-scrabble farm-ranch where I ccowboyed until we lost the place. I tried my hand at several different jobs until I wised up and went to work at something that paid enough to live on. I didn't emerge as a gay man until my early 50's and have only had one gay lover in my life. He wasn't a cowboy but dressed the part enough to keep my interest. He died of lung cancer three months ago. I was too broke to participate as a contestent and too old when I finally was earning enough to compete so I never got to rodeo like I wanted to but cowboys have always been a big "turn-on" for me and I still enjoy the old westerns in spite of the fact that the hero gets a woman instead of a guy.
