Native of Western North Carolina and in 1969 I was drafted into the military. I ended up serving
with the 20th Combat Engineers, attached to the First Brigade of the 101st Air Borne, Co. E
I served two tours in Vietnam from 1969-1971, was stationed up in the Highlands of Vietnam at a Fire Base called Camp Carroll, in Quang Tri, Providence. I was wound twice and received two Purple Hearts along with the Bronze Star with V device and the Silver Star, I came out of the Army in 1971 E-5
